What is the initial payment?
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to make an initial payment. This payment covers the cost of your services from your contract start date.
In most cases, this includes the remainder of the month in which your contract starts.
Why might my initial payment be higher than my monthly amount?
In some situations, your initial payment may also include a catch-up payment for the following month. This usually happens when your first payment is scheduled after your contract start date and falls into the next calendar month.
For example:
you sign up partway through a month, and
your first payment is taken in the following month.
When this happens, your initial payment may combine:
the remaining days of your first month, and
the full charge for the next month.
This means the initial payment can be higher than the monthly amount you were quoted. After this first payment, all future payments will be charged at your normal monthly rate.
Where can I see my initial payment details?
Your initial payment and how it is calculated are clearly shown in:
your Pre-Contract Information, emailed to you before you sign up, and
your Contract, emailed to you immediately after you submit your payment details.
Broadband installation and delivery charges
If you have ordered Broadband, your initial payment may also include a one-off charge for installation and delivery. Any one-off charges will be clearly shown in your Pre-Contract Information and Contract.
