What to do if you receive a water bill?

Moving into a new place comes with a lot of excitement, but opening the mailbox to find an unexpected water bill can definitely cause a moment of panic.

If you’ve just received a bill from a water supplier, please don't worry, and definitely don't pay it. Here is exactly what’s happening and what you need to do next.

Usually, this happens because of a quick timing mismatch.

Water suppliers are often quick to send out bills to "The Occupier" or under the previous tenant's details before your official Bunch account has been fully registered with them. It’s a completely automated process on their end, not a sign that something is wrong.

Do not pay the supplier directly, because Bunch will work with your water supplier to set up your water account as part of your package. If you pay them directly, it can complicate your account setup and lead to you paying twice for the same period. Let us handle the payments, that's what we're here for!


If you receive a water bill and are unsure what to do, just follow these two simple steps:

  1. Take a clear picture of the front and back of the bill

  2. Email the photo over to support@the-bunch.com

Once we receive it, our team will investigate, contact the supplier on your behalf, and make sure everything is aligned with your bunch account.
