In most homes, meters are located at the point where energy enters the property—usually on the ground floor. They’re often found in one of the following places:
Under the stairs
In a hallway, kitchen, or utility area
Inside a cupboard
In some cases, your meter may be outside the property—built into an external wall box.
If You Live in a Flat or Apartment Block:
Your meters may be located in a communal area, such as:
The basement
A shared meter cupboard or room
What If I Can’t Access the Meters?
If your meter is behind a locked door or in a restricted area, you may need a PIN code or key to access it.
In these cases, we recommend contacting your letting agent or landlord—they should be able to provide access details or arrange for someone to assist.
Still Can’t Find Your Meter?
If you’re unsure where to look, your landlord or letting agent should be able to help you locate it.
