Managing your water meter readings with Bunch

Guide to reading your water meter, submitting photos and dates, and understanding when to send regular readings.

Updated today

Water meter readings are essential for accurate billing โ€” they ensure you're only paying for what you use and help detect leaks early.

How to take a water meter reading

Taking a reading is simple:

  1. Locate your water meter (see advice here)

  2. Write down the reading:

    • Note only the black numbers before the decimal point (ignore any red or small numbers after the decimal)

  3. Take a clear photo of your meter, showing:

    • The meter display

    • The water meter serial number

    • The date you took the reading

  4. Email the photo to us, along with the date the reading was taken.

Once youโ€™ve sent it in, our Water team will review your reading and adjust your payments if necessary to make sure your bill reflects your actual usage.

Water meters are also read directly by your supplier at least once every 12 months, even if you donโ€™t submit a reading.

๐Ÿ‘€ Soon, your Bunch portal will allow you to submit your meter readings and photos even faster. Watch this space...

When should you submit a reading?

We recommend submitting a water reading:

  • At move-in and move-out

  • Every few months if you're on a metered supply

  • If you suspect a leak or billing issue

  • When we request it via email (a form may be included)
